A quiver full of blessings!

One thing I have learned from working on this Christmas Blog is that our family is incredibly blessed.  We have had a very good year filled with adventure, growth, excitement, discovery and milestones. When you review your photos for the year and analyze the highlights there is just such an overwhelming feeling of joy and gratitude to our Father in Heaven for everything.  In spite of any challenges, it has been a stellar year.

These kids are just the well-spring of happiness for us and their parents are more precious then ever. Watching them function and run their families is just beyond amazing.   Coupling that with our own adventures of doing things we have always wanted to do, developing our own talents without so many time restrictions and following our dreams has been life changing this year.

The traveling and exploring new places has been the best form of education we could have imagined.  And it has been a lovely time of one on one experiences together and of serving and working and playing together.   All of these things have been vital to our health, spirituality, and happiness as a couple.

The aches and pains we have had that accompany getting older have even increased our appreciation for the gift of life and all the years that we ran around doing things completely unaware of the mechanics of moving freely and painlessly, feeling super everyday!  The younger years are like having a brain and a heart floating on a cloud.  We still have those good things but now it feels like we are hauling them around in rusty wagons sometimes!  Young people, appreciate that cloud but don't be afraid of the rusty wagon either.  God takes good care of us in whatever season we find ourselves.  Be grateful.

This year has been particularly replete with worthwhile things to look forward too~always something on the horizon to uplift or teach us something new or to help someone in need.  I think this may very well be the key to a happy autumn season of life.  We are no way even thinking about the winter season of our lives yet.  A meaningful life keeps you thinking young.   Love of God, family and dear friends who become family seems to be the trigger for all of it.
