Jen and Lowell at Muir Woods on their 15th anniversary
September, 2012
Jen and Lowell have had a very busy year with selling their home and renovating the family condo. Surprisingly in the current real estate slump their home sold very quickly (plug for Jen's fabulous staging~3 days with multiple offers) and they are now living in the condo while they work on it and ponder their next move. So far no decisions have been made about where they'll go next. Lowell's position at work allows him some latitude for relocating and options are being considered carefully. They are all feeling good about the change and they are looking forward to the next chapter of their story.
Lowell is still our family computer guru and he enjoys singing in his groups. We lucked out and heard him sing a solo in their ward this year when we happened to be visiting. That was great. Jen continues to love her iPhone, her babies, her friends, art, cooking, making jewelry with her friend, Kim, and all the things that make her the vivacious woman she is. Jen is a delight to be around and she is so funny! She keeps us laughing and that is just want the doctor has ordered. The two of them got to go on a week long vacation alone and on a cruise in September. It was pretty awesome apparently as they are planning another trip to Scotland in February.
Hazel's first picture with Santa!
Hazel broke her leg in February and had a tough six weeks in a full body cast but she healed beautifully and is doing just fine now. She is still in preschool despite being five years old. She has one of those late September birthdays where she just missed the cut off for kindergarten. She is really looking forward to kindergarten after three year in preschool where she is now the little mother hen of the younger kids. She loves her friends, teachers and bus drivers. If you have ever been anywhere with her you know that it is like being with a celebrity: everyone loves and knows Hazie. That girl has never met a stranger. She is sweet, cute, funny, smart and outgoing. And she is a pro at getting around in her wheelchair. She can take a corner on a dime and with amazing precision. She has been through so much in her short life and she is the bravest person we know. The good news is she seems to be getting stronger when fighting all the viruses in the valley. This is huge and we are grateful!
Chloe is totally amazing in second grade! This kid is so smart...she reads everything in sight and loves to learn. She also loves music and is a computer whiz! Chloe likes to read books to Hazel and is a great helper and big sister. She will be getting baptized in June. She has enjoyed the move to the condo and having new neighbors to play with has been super. She loves having a flat place to ride her bike and that her best friend, Shelby, lives less than a block away. This girl is a natural at athletics and looks forward to her first year at ski school this winter, so her fingers are crossed for a white Christmas. Chloe loves to have Gramma read to her and sleep with her when we are visiting. She falls asleep in my arms and then Grampa moves Chloe into her own bed. First thing in the morning she is right back where she started, often before the sun is up. Precious moments! She is such a beauty, don't you think she looks a little like Drew Barrymore as a child? Think ET. We love her peppery personality.
Julia is twelve and enjoying all things that being in sixth grade means. She "rules the school" as they say and is loving every minute of it. She is enjoying the Young Women's Program at church in her new ward. She has embraced music this year as never before. She goes to school everyday for choir and band rehearsals and is teaching herself guitar and ukulele. She has such a pretty voice as well. She wasn't very happy when they sold the piano before moving but she still gets to tinker with the key board and she loves that. She is such a sweet and fun girl and enjoys whatever she does. She told me she loves sharing a room with Piper while living in the condo. She looks up to her big sister a lot.
Julia is full of enthusiasm for everything and has many interests and a willingness to serve others. She is a great help to her parents. She and Aynslee had a fun time at the Family reunion. She still gives the best foot massage in Utah! I do love and miss these beautiful, sparkly chocolate eyes very much and Grampa misses doing projects with her!
Piper is in the 8th grade and is truly an academic whiz. She is kind-hearted and sensitive. She is getting really good on the flute and her Spanish is improving daily. She continues her art and design skills on the side and she likes to write short stories and Harry Potter fan fiction. Her Polyvore fashion design boards on Pinterest are amazing.
She also has a tremendous sense of her own style and such a beautiful smile. She joined the science academy at school and is currently working on a year long project to build an underwater robot with her engineering team. She had a great time with her cousins and especially Spencer and Connor at our family reunion in Sundance during the summer. Both she and Julia enjoyed a week at Girls' Camp and loved it. Piper likes living nearer to Mitrian, her good buddy since pre-school. The downside of the move for her, the condo is a little tight when she is trying to find her solitude. Piper is so responsible and so helpful with her sisters. Her care of Hazel is just wonderful. All the girls are wonderful with Hazie's special needs. Like all of Jen and Lowell's little women, Piper is a beauty both inside and out. To say that we love and miss them all everyday would be an understatement!
